

This is true for latest macOS (Ventura) too. So it needs to be installed manually to use LyX.

With macOS 12.3 Python isn't part of the OS anymore. Until macOS 12.3 (Monterey) Apple shipped the OS with Python 2.7. LyX depends on a usable Python installation on your system.
